Who are Ronald McDonald House Charities?

Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia (RMHC ) is an independent not for profit charity that was established in 1985.  RMHC creates, finds and supports programs across Australia to help seriously ill children and their families.

Our charity has 13 Ronald McDonald Houses across Australia, 5 Ronald McDonald Family Retreats, 3 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, plus a national Learning Program. All these combined allow us to help thousands of families every year in the most difficult times of their lives.

How does RMHC help?

The cornerstone program of RMHC is the Ronald McDonald House program. There are 13 Ronald McDonald Houses in Australia providing affordable accommodation for families with sick children being treated at major women’s and children’s hospitals in each state.  The Houses are a home away from home and give families the opportunity to stay together to support their sick child.

Since 1981 Australia’s 13 Ronald McDonald Houses have provided more than 110,000 families with over 1,000,000 nights of accommodation.

RMHC supports a number of other programs that help seriously ill children to live happier healthier lives in addition to the Houses.  These include:-

- The Ronald McDonald Learning Program
- The Ronald McDonald Family Retreats
- The Ronald McDonald  Family Rooms
- RMHC Cord Blood Banks
